Over the weekend I got one of those little square calendars, with one page per day, at half-price, and it's sitting on my desk at work. Every day I get a color photo of a tropical scene and a Deep Thought. Today's Deep Thought is this:
Nature
is free
in a way
we can
only strive
to attain.
People who write stuff like this are delusional.
Oh, sure, it sounds nice. It sounds "free," but only to people who don't know nature. People who idealize Nature are city-dwellers, as far as I can tell. It's like Death Dates A Liberal, seen here at Malott's Blog.
There's a reason people say, "It's a jungle out there!" They say it because jungles are dangerous, violent, poisonous, deadly places. If you strive to attain Nature, just go to gang territory in the Urban Jungle, and you'll be in the middle of what Nature is really like.
If it's serenity you're striving to attain, try sitting in a park.

Once again Skye, your assessment is spot on. Thanks for bringing us back to reality on this issue.
