Plot to Kill Queen Foiled

The Daily Express (UK) reported today on a foiled plot to kill the Queen.

AL Qaeda terrorists posing as TV crews planned to blow up the Queen by smuggling explosives into last year’s Commonwealth summit.

Two huge outside broadcast vans belonging to the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation were seized after a tip-off from intelligence agents.

As a result, UBC was unable to transmit live pictures of key summit events, including the Queen’s historic address to the Ugandan parliament on November 22.

Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, the Uganda Minister of Internal Affairs, said: “We received information that a terrorist group linked to Al Qaeda, the Allied Democratic Forces, was planning to carry out terrorist activities at the Commonwealth meeting. The security services in Uganda neutralised these threats.”

He refused to comment on the precise nature of the planned attacks or reports that Ugandan armed forces had seized a speedboat loaded with arms and homemade bombs.

It's hard to believe that anyone would want to kill the Queen. She's such a nice lady--quiet, clean, and uncontroversial. And she wears hats. What would al Qaeda have against hats?

Obviously, they have plenty against the Queen. She's an infidel, for starters. And she's a woman who's the titular head of a country. And she's revered by all those infidels in the UK. And her country is at war with al Qaeda, helping that son-of-a-pig infidel, George W. Bush. Really, it's a wonder they haven't tried to kill her before this.

But the point, I'm sure, is that the Left in the US will come to their favorite conclusion: No matter who was doing evil, or who they were doing it to, it's all, always, Bush's fault. What will they do a year from now when Bush has left office?

They will still blame Bush.

I haven't heard anyone blaming Bush for this.

Maybe they'll blame Bush because the queen wears hats.......

It's like the Kevin Bacon game, Jacob, it all leads back to Bush.

I love women in hats and I think they should wear them more often.

I also love the Kevin Bacon game... Link Kevin Bacon to Cary Grant...

Anyone? Anyone?

I agree w/ W from N... They will still blame Bush. George is the new Nixon.

Chris,

You're an exceedingly cruel man. Having never played the Kevin Bacon game, I felt compelled to give it a try (probably another of my late-night poor decisions).

Kevin Bacon was in Mystic River with Marcia Gay Harden, who was in Spy Hard with Pat Morita, who was in Thoroughly Modern Millie with John Gavin, who was in the Love Boat with Gavin MacLeod, who was in Operation Petticoat with Cary Grant.

Skyepuppy,

Very well done. My route:

Kevin Bacon - Animal House - Tim Matheson
T Matheson - Fletch - Chevy Chase
C. Chase - Spies Like Us - Dan Ackroyd
D. Ackroyd - Trading Places - Ralph Bellamy
R. Bellamy - His Girl Friday - Cary Grant
